Frequently asked questions...
My style is quite simple and my previous work makes sure you connect with my style to ensure I am the right photographer for you. However there are always those questions that need to be asked. If there is anything that you would like to know, please do ask.
Do you cover the whole day?
Yes – I can cover every aspect of your wedding up until the last person falls on the dance floor if required, or if you are having some magical fireworks, or something else special. My job is to document your day from start to finish, and I certainly won’t leave if you want me to stay a little longer. I am also happy to start early in the morning and cover preparations, or the complete memories of your day – that is what documentary photography is all about.
How many images will we receive?
This will vary on the length and size of the wedding, but usually for a full days cover you can expect to receive around 800 fully edited images.
What are your prices?
My standard all day - from the bride/groom getting ready till 9pm is £1,250. Bespoke/Tailor made packages are available, please do contact me to discuss. (Registry office only is £360).
Included in all my packages are the services of my wife - offering bespoke wedding planning and advice or help on the day if required.
How long will it take to receive the images?
4 - 6 weeks after the wedding date, but I will post a few sneaky peeks on social media so you’re not waiting too long.
Do you offer albums?
Yes, I really value having photos printed, they will last for years and can be viewed by future family generations. I can offer fine art or coffee table albums.
How Do You Cope With The Weather?
As much as possible, I record the weather as any other aspect of the wedding day, as that is all part of the atmosphere of your day. Don’t worry, bad weather doesn’t necessarily mean bad photographs; often reflected light from wet ground creates even better lighting than on a sunny day, and guests are much less likely to squint! I use up to the minute forecasts and live weather data on the day to spot any windows in the weather which can be used. Whatever the weather, you and your guests will make it the day that it is! If the weather does not allow for any outdoor shots, I am more than happy to come back another day to get the 'green' outdoor shots if you wish.... no extra charge!!!
Who owns the copyright of the images?
The copyright of the images will always remain with me the photographer, but I give my couples licensing permission to use and print them however you wish.
Are you insured?
Yes I am fully insured for both public and professional indemnity. Do ask to see my Certificate of Insurance for peace of mind. I am also DBS Enhanced checked too.
Do you do engagement shoots?
Yes. These are a great way for us to get to know each other better and get you both feeling more comfortable in front of the camera before the big day.
What cameras and kit do you use? Do you have backups?
I use 3 professional Nikon digital cameras with a variety of lenses and flashes. I also have extra back-up camera’s just in-case and a shed load of batteries and storage!
Do you edit the images?
Yes. Each and every one of your images will be edited to maintain a consistent style and quality.
Do you travel?
Yes, I love to travel! I cover the whole of the UK, Europe and internationally for destination weddings.
How do we book you?
That’s easy. Let’s meet up for a tea/coffee/beer/wine to get to know each other a bit better first. Then if you feel I’m the right photographer for you, all you need to do is fill out a short contract and pay a £100 booking fee that secures your wedding date. The remaining balance is then due 4 weeks prior to the wedding.
Do you photograph non weddings Events?
Absolutely, I love big fun birthdays and anything else you want. I will deliver the same luxury style to any event as we do for weddings. See my website by clicking on the button: www.johnmanktelowphotography.co.uk for more details.
